An almost thirty years friendship, an ocean between us and the desire to work together. With Rachel Hoshino, artist, ceramist, designer and curator, an epistolary project emerges: 11 weeks, 11 letters, 11 artworks exchanged, in three series of 11. A dialogue, a red thread that unites us and bastes the work. Just like Moirai, the Fates, who weave the lives and destinies of men, we sew words and lines, in search of what animates us and what allows us to create and find ourselves.

In the first series of 11 works, drawings on xuan paper appear sewn to the letters, which thus become illisible. This process results in the creation of the three Moirai on reels of shopping paper, Klothó as the transcription of the 11 letters repeated and transformed until they compose only 1 sentence, Láchesis as the red thread sewn to the reel and Átropos as the silence of these gestures.

In the second series, gestures migrate to the large wenzhou paper roll and the Fates meet Rachel’s work, integrating the shapes and traces left in the Roman amphorae found in the region I live.

In the third series, the Moirai-amphoraes are synthesized into simple lines and gestures on white paper, condensing in the lines the traces and indices of their history.
